High Performance Threads Impact Sewing Efficiency & the Bottom Line
ANETRAK®

A&E®, ANETRAK, Quality in Every Facet of Our Business   A growing number of manufacturers are discovering that, while sewing threads represent a relatively minor element in the cost of consumer goods, the true cost of thread must be measured in terms of how it impacts sewing efficiency and product throughput.

Through A&E's years of experience on thread performance, we understand that high performance threads can significantly impact sewing efficiency and have a direct bottom line implication for manufacturers of all sewn products.

In order to assist manufacturers with quantifying the impact that high performance threads have on sewing efficiency, A&E® has developed a proprietary approach to measuring thread performance - ANETRAK®. Through real-time data collection, this tool allows manufacturers to evaluate thread performance on the sewing floor before and after changing to a high-performance thread.

During an ANETRAK® evaluation, A&E® Technical Representatives typically monitor sewing production over a three-day period. Each interruption is documented noting the location and the type of interruption. At the conclusion of the data-gathering time frame, the information is uploaded to the ANETRAK® system for initial review by all involved in the evaluation. Three-dimensional graphs for formal presentation are created by our Technical Support Department.  These graphs illustrate the thread performance and areas that may need special review.

A&E® also generates reports, using data collection, that illustrate the financial impact of high defect areas, comparing the cost of thread with its financial impact on productivity. A&E® then reviews these recommendations with the customer so that the customer understands the true cost of thread as it impacts efficiency, productivity, and profitability. Based on the ANETRAK® results, A&E makes recommendations concerning thread selection.

In addition to ANETRAK® evaluations, A&E® Technical Representatives  proactively work with customers on all aspects of thread performance, ranging from thread cost and consumption analysis to thread selection and seam engineering. A&E® has completed a number of ANETRAK® evaluations for customers with global sewing operations. These studies have consistently shown that using high-performance threads greatly impacts sewing and seam performance at a lower overall thread cost.

Issues facing A&E's customers in global markets are exceedingly complex and thread selection is just one of the many factors that must manage daily. By taking a proactive approach and offering services such as ANETRAK®, A&E's goal is to take the mystery out of thread science and help our customers make-well informed decisions concerning this area of their manufacturing operations.
